Meet the Reverend Harry T. Baxter

Introduction

As the Minister of Pastoral Care, I, too, would like to welcome you to Wesley United Methodist Church.

Personal History

I joined the staff at Wesley in April, 2005, after having retired from the Baltimore-Washington Conference in June of 2003.

I grew up in Philadelphia and Drexel Hill, PA. I left the area to attend Hendrix College in Conway, AR, from which I was graduated in 1961. I then attended Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC, and was ordained an elder in the Baltimore Conference in 1964. I continued my education by obtaining a Master’s degree in Pastoral Counseling at Loyola University of Baltimore, MD, in 1978. I served several churches in Maryland before my retirement, with a special emphasis on working with the Conference Commission on Religion and Race and the Commission on HIV/AIDS Ministries.

My specific involvement at Wesley UMC is pastoral care of shut-ins, nursing home residents and hospitalized parishioners.

My wife, Lou, and I are the proud parents of two sons and grandparents of two grandsons. She and I look forward to being in active ministry with you at Wesley.
